Tips For Your First Visit To The Dispensary

Updated: Jul 6, 2023

With medical marijuana finally becoming available for purchase, patients are heading to dispensaries to seek products to help relieve their symptoms. For those who are new to medical marijuana, visiting a dispensary for the first time can be intimidating for some. Here are some tips on what you can expect when you step foot into a Virginia medical marijuana dispensary for the first time.

Have Your Card on Hand

Before you head back to the showroom where you meet with the budtenders and select your products, you will need to check-in at the front desk of the dispensary. All patients who go to the dispensary must have a valid medical marijuana card and state-issued I.D. on hand before entering.

Be Prepared To Wait

With dispensary openings being brand new to Missouri, you can expect there to be a wait before entering. In many states, dispensary regulations only allow budtenders to serve one patient at a time as well. While you are waiting, check out the dispensary’s menu and think about which products you may be interested in purchasing.

Have Cash On Hand

Most dispensaries accept cash only. Before taking your trip to the shop, be sure you have enough cash on hand for your transactions. If you are unsure of how much money to bring with you, you can call the dispensary ahead of time to see if they have an ATM in or near the store.

Don't Hesitate To Ask Questions

The wide variety of products available at dispensaries may be overwhelming to those who are new to medical marijuana. But have no fear! Budtenders are available to help you during your visit. If you are unsure of what products to use or what specific strains can help your symptoms, budtenders are there to be your guide. Do not hesitate to ask questions and seek recommendations so you can purchase products that are best suited for you.
