Medical Marijuana Makes Halloween Even Better! Best Spooky Activities for When You’re Feeling Great

top spooky things to do while using medical marijuana

In the Fall, Virginia’s landscape comes alive with bright colors. But Halloween brings out the ghouls and ghosts, too!

Colorful leaves. Pumpkin spice anything. Cozy sweaters. And all the spooks! Virginia has lots to offer when it comes to everyone’s favorite season, but medical marijuana patients in the Commonwealth have even more ways to celebrate the thinning of the veil between worlds!

One of the best things about having a Virginia marijuana card is the fact that it’s so easy to incorporate products found at dispensaries into your lifestyle. And once you have the right combination, you’ll find yourself feeling your best and ready to get out and enjoy life again!

Autumn is the perfect time of year to be active for a number of reasons. Cooler weather is often more comfortable than sweltering heat for people who are managing certain inflammatory conditions. Plus, even if you don’t like haunted houses, the spooky vibe can be fun. And fresh apple cider is, hands down, the best beverage on the planet—definitely worth a trip to your local orchard.

If we don’t have you sold on autumn just yet, keep reading for a list of the best spooky things to do in Virginia while using your medical marijuana. We’ve got activities for all levels of tolerance, from the most mild, to the most gruesome; and having the right balance of natural relief while you enjoy these seasonal activities might just make this your favorite time of year after all!

Bacon’s Castle was originally built in 1665, for Aurthur Allen. It is the oldest known dwelling in North America, and it got its name because Nathaniel Bacon’s men occupied it for a few months during the Bacon’s Rebellion. With hundreds of years of history behind it, this house has been the site of paranormal investigations, and its annual fall events are a celebration of the property’s spirits.

On October 16th and October 30th, you can visit the property, sip warm cider around a fire, listen to ghost stories, and even tour the home in the dark! There is also an opportunity to attend a special event with Robert “Brad” Bradley, Research coordinator for the Center for Paranormal Research and Investigation (CPRI). This part of the event is $40, but may be worth it for die-hard (pun intended) ghost hunters.

Colonial Ghosts - Williamsburg

Colonial Ghosts has won awards for being one of the top 10 ghost tours in the US, and the best in Williamsburg. If you’re looking for an authentically hair-raising experience with spirits from beyond, this might just satisfy your itch!

And now, you don’t even have to leave home to get your spook on from the other side! The company has released an app that turns your phone into a virtual ghost tour, a playlist of more than 200 ghost stories, and Ghostflix, a weekly live ghost tour from the comfort of your couch!

Shocktober - Leesburg

Named the fifth scariest haunted house in the country, this one is not for the faint of heart. Shocktober refers to the entire motif at the grounds where the Carlheim Manor and the Well of Souls is sure to get you into the Halloween mood. You have to buy a $5 grounds pass just to be there, but it might be enough to hang around outside and watch the look of terror on other people’s faces as they come and go!

In addition to an evening of ghouls and thrills, your admission to Shocktober also contributes to supporting the Arc of Loudon. Supporting, educating and serving people with disabilities and their families.

Staunton is rumored to be one of the most haunted towns in the country. And the walking ghost tours offered there may just be enough to convince you. Choose from tours that feature the haunted hotels of the area, the Staunton Depot, and general historical tours through the town.

For hardcore ghost fans, the company is also featuring special, Halloween edition tours that include a session where paranormal investigators attempt to communicate with the dead.

Hexed - Elliston

Another haunted house attraction guaranteed to put a proper fright into you. Hexed is featuring a couple of special events this year that will delight and entertain, including Phoenix on Fire on October 29th and 30th.

Okay so this one is technically across state lines, but it’s worth the trip to have a chance to hunt down some zombies this Halloween season. Daytime zombie hunts include animatronics, and a probably perfect for anyone who prefers a minimal amount of spook.

At night, live actors come out to really bring out the fright, and paintball zombie hunting through a cornfield is probably one of the most thrilling things you can do this season.

Staying Safe Using Medical Marijuana While Out and About for Autumn

Keep in mind that it is NEVER safe to drive while impaired. These activities might be worth the road trip, but they are not worth an accident. If you are using medical marijuana products that cause impairment of any kind, get someone else to drive, or wait until you get to your location before you take your medicine!

Additionally, events like zombie paintball and haunted houses are probably better enjoyed while unhindered by the psychoactive effects of THC. Fortunately, there are some excellent products available at Virginia dispensaries that are lower in this cannabinoid, and higher in CBD. These will help you feel your best while keeping a sound mind.
